Mombasa City Tours Itinerary

The 1 Day Mombasa City Tour explores some of the best highlights of this colorful old city. Your tour will visit the bustling Mackinnon fruit and vegetable market (locally called 'Marikiti' - a Swahili corruption of the word market), which has been in operation since colonial days. You enjoy a walking tour in the streets of the Mombasa Old Arab Town, you will see the intricate hand carved doors, and balconies hanging over the narrow streets, unchanged for hundreds of years.

You will visit Fort Jesus - a fortress which was built by the Portuguese in the 15th century to protect their interest in East Africa against Omani Arabs. See how it went from a fort to a prison, to a Museum - a tourist attraction.

Walk under the famous elephant tusks on Moi Avenue, which you probably have seen in those old African adventure movies. Finally we visit the Akamba wood carvers center where you can purchase a fine hand carved African memento.

Mombasa - Shimba Hills Day Trip/Excursion Itinerary

Our safari driver guide will pick you form your hotel in the morning and drive past Mombasa town cross the Likoni chanel by ferry and drive on past Digo (local tribe) villages with coconut plantations to Shimba Hills National Reserve past - a  forty-five minutes to one hour drive depending on traffic.

Your game drive will start upon entering the reserve hoping to see the many game animals found here, such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo and warthog and the rare Sable Antelope for which Shimba hills National Reserve is famous for.

You will visit the magnificent Sheldrick’s Falls on the slope of the hills before taking lunch at Shimba Lodge. The lodge is built around a very large tree and a waterhole that attracts wildlife. Shimba Lodge is the only tree hotel on the Coast.

After lunch you may walk on a suspended bridge into the forest to watch bird life and enjoy the serenity before you continue with your day trip in Shimba Hills until 4pm when you will check out of the park and drive back to your hotel in time for dinner.

Welcome to a day's ultimate pleasure in the richest marine park in the Kenya Coast. In the early morning depart (at 6.00 am) for the tranquil fishing village of Shimoni close to the Tanzanian border. The scenic route takes you to through lush coconut and cashew nuts plantation and colourful villages of the Digo people.

At Shimoni, jetty boards at authentic motorized Lamu Dhow, which cruise and sail you through and enriching seascapes of islands to the underwater splendor of the Kisite Marine Park. Here snorkellers will marvel at the incredible variety of marine life in the shallow and warm waters around Kisite Island, for the numerous birds.

Divers will explore a number of excellent dive sites, also teeming with a astounding variety of Marine life which inhabitants the magnificent coral reefs in and around the park.

Kaya Kinondo Tour

Leave your hotel in the morning and drive to the Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest, your guide will point out the flora and fauna/biodiversity of this mystic forest. You will visit the Digo people’s (indigenous Kenya Coast tribesmen) shrines where you will be introduced to their spiritual ritual and worship. Later you will visit a Digo Village in the countryside to interact with them in their daily lives. The village tour includes a visit to a traditional healer’s house to see how they go about healing the sick and exorcising evil spirit. To finish your tour you will visit to a local Primary School, you will enter the classrooms and have the opportunity to get a presentation with the school head teacher before returning to the hotel for lunch.
